It's the Monday after the final day of the regular season and the part of our attention that isn't being spent on the playoffs is looking at which managers don't (or won't) have jobs anymore. So instead of writing and reading several "well, he didn't have a good record, but how much impact does a manager really have anwyay?" posts, we'll keep updating this one with names of those skippers headed toward the unemployment line.
ALREADY GONE
Ken Macha, Milwaukee Brewers: Macha told the AP on Sunday night that the club wasn't picking up his option for 2011 after he posted two straight losing seasons. The news actually broke early Sunday morning via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, leaving GM Doug Melvin to awkwardly apologize to Macha for not telling him first. (Melvin made it up to Macha by helping him load a SUV with his belongings. Really.)
John Russell, Pittsburgh Pirates: According to Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Russell has been fired after three seasons on the job. Russell was 186-299 in his tim with the Pirates and is coming off a 105-loss season.
Jerry Manuel, New York Mets: Everyone knew the moves were coming, but the Mets finally made it official just before noon on Monday. Not only is Jerry Manuel out of a job, but general manager Omar Minaya is being relieved of his duties as well.
